Welcome to Tend. We believe plant care should be calm and private. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and how it is protected when you use the Tend iOS application.

1. Information We Collect

Tend is designed to work without requiring an account. Most of your plant data is stored locally on your device.

• Photos for Plant Identification: When you use the identification feature, the selected image is securely transmitted to our third-party plant identification provider (Pl@ntNet) solely to determine the species. Images saved to your plant profiles are stored locally on your device.
• Plant Care Data: Plant names, watering history, health check notes, and related information are stored locally on your device using Apple’s native storage frameworks.
• Notifications: Tend uses local notifications to provide watering and health reminders. These notifications are scheduled and managed entirely on your device.

2. Analytics and Diagnostics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand general usage patterns and improve app performance. This may include aggregated, anonymous data such as feature usage and crash reports.

We do not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or your saved plant photos through analytics. For more information about how Google processes data, please review the Google Privacy Policy.

3. Third-Party Services

Tend integrates with the Pl@ntNet API for plant identification. When you use this feature, the selected image is transmitted to Pl@ntNet for processing. Pl@ntNet handles data according to its own privacy practices.

4. Data Storage and iCloud Backup

Your plant care data is stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud Device Backup, your data may be included in your personal iCloud backups. We do not have access to your iCloud backups.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Tend evolves. If changes are made, the "Last Updated" date will reflect the revision.
